Instructions for Authors
Prepare a complete, review-ready manuscript that makes its coronavirus relevance explicit and supplies the ethics, reporting, data and authorship information needed for editorial assessment.
Review model
Single-blind (double-blind on request). Authors requesting double-blind review should provide a separate title page and remove names, affiliations, acknowledgments and other identifiers from the review manuscript.
Choose the closest category
Supported contribution types
The scientific contribution and evidence determine suitability. If a methods or data-focused manuscript does not match a portal label exactly, choose the closest category and explain the format in the cover letter.
Original research
Laboratory, translational, clinical, epidemiological, modeling, surveillance or One Health studies with a defined question and reproducible methods.
Reviews and evidence syntheses
Systematic, scoping or critical reviews and meta-analyses with an explicit search, selection and synthesis method.
Short communications and analyses
Focused findings, validated methods, datasets or timely analyses that make a complete and appropriately supported contribution.
Case-based reports
Cases or series with unusual virological, immunological, diagnostic, therapeutic or clinical insight and required patient consent.
Perspectives, commentaries and letters
Evidence-grounded discussion of a defined scientific question, published work or research priority.

Manuscript organization
What the review files should contain
Title page
Article title; full author names and affiliations; corresponding-author email; ORCID iDs where available; word count; funding; conflicts; and any related preprint or prior conference abstract.
Abstract and keywords
Provide an abstract of no more than 300 words, structured when appropriate to the article type, followed by 4–6 specific keywords. Avoid citations and unexplained abbreviations.
Main text
Original research normally follows Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion, with a separate conclusion only when useful. Other article types should use headings that make the method and evidence easy to assess.
Methods and statistics
Describe design, setting, dates, participants or materials, controls, outcomes, sample-size reasoning and statistical methods sufficiently for critical assessment and replication.
Limitations and interpretation
Separate findings from interpretation, state material limitations and avoid converting observational or preliminary results into clinical or public-health recommendations.

Files, figures, tables and references
Main manuscript
Submit an editable Word file or LaTeX source with continuous line and page numbering. A readable review PDF may accompany source files.
Figures
Supply TIFF, PNG or high-quality JPEG files at a minimum of 300 dpi, with descriptive captions, legible labels and any required reuse permission.
Tables
Provide editable tables rather than images. Define abbreviations, units, denominators and statistical notation in the table or footnotes.
Supplementary material
Label every file, cite it in the manuscript, and state its file type and purpose. Supply a short description for the online record and remove confidential or identifying information that should not be published.
Sequences, structures and code
Use an appropriate repository and provide accession numbers or persistent links. Explain legitimate privacy, legal or biosecurity restrictions.
Reference style
Use numbered Vancouver-style references in citation order. Include the DOI when available and verify that every citation supports the associated statement.

Required statements
Ethics, reporting, data and disclosure
- Ethics-committee name, approval identifier and consent process for human research, or a documented explanation of exemption.
- For a clinical trial, public registry name, number and date showing registration at or before first participant consent.
- Animal-research approval and welfare/reporting information, including ARRIVE where applicable.
- Biosafety containment, institutional approvals and any material dual-use concern for work involving infectious or modified biological material.
- The reporting checklist appropriate to the design, such as CONSORT, STROBE, PRISMA, CARE, STARD or ARRIVE.
- Research articles require a data-availability statement. Restrictions must be explained and consistent with consent, privacy, law or legitimate biosecurity needs.
- Funding statement, competing-interest declaration and author-contribution statement.
- Disclosure of substantive generative-AI use. AI tools cannot be authors, and authors remain responsible for every claim and citation.
- Identification of related manuscripts, preprints, conference abstracts and reused material.

Before opening the submission portal
Confirm journal fit
The title, abstract and cover letter should make the substantive coronavirus question clear.
Prepare source files
Check that the manuscript, figures, tables, supplementary files and review version open correctly and contain no unintended identifiers.
Complete declarations
Resolve authorship, ethics, consent, trial registration, funding, conflicts, data, AI and biosafety statements before submission.
Choose one submission route
Use one route only: ManuscriptZone, the publisher submission form, or email to the editorial office. Identify IJCV and do not create duplicate records through another route.
Respond to review
For a revision, upload a clean manuscript, a marked version if requested and a point-by-point response that identifies every change.
Check proofs and the record
After acceptance, review proofs carefully, answer production queries and notify the journal promptly of any material post-publication error.
Fees are independent of editorial assessment. There is no submission fee or review fee. The verified APC is charged only after acceptance; read the APC page before submitting.
