Submit Special Issue
Guidance for submitting manuscripts to a JAPST special issue.
Special issue submissions
Special issues gather focused research around a defined theme. Authors may submit to an approved special issue through the standard submission routes, selecting the special issue title in the cover letter or submission notes.
All manuscripts follow the same peer review standards as regular submissions, with oversight from the JAPST editorial office. Special issue placement does not guarantee acceptance, and each manuscript must meet journal standards independently. Accepted articles publish online on a rolling basis and are later compiled into the special issue collection.

Guest editor coordination
Guest editors may provide topic specific guidance and recommend reviewers. JAPST maintains final editorial oversight to ensure consistent standards across special issue and regular submissions.
Authors should respond promptly to reviewer comments to keep special issue timelines on track.
Review and publication
Special issue manuscripts undergo the same peer review standards as regular submissions. Guest editors may provide subject guidance, but final editorial decisions remain with the JAPST editorial office.
Accepted articles are published online as soon as they are ready, and then grouped into the special issue collection.
Typical timeline
Special issue submissions are processed on a rolling basis. Most manuscripts receive an initial decision within a few weeks, followed by revision and production.
