Overview
Ethical health issues encompass the moral principles, values, and dilemmas that arise in healthcare delivery, research, and policy, affecting how health services are provided, accessed, and experienced across diverse populations. Research published in Public Health International addresses multiple dimensions of this topic, including methodological approaches to understanding ethical challenges through qualitative research in healthcare settings, foundational examinations of ethics within health systems, and the intersection of cultural values with emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence in African contexts. The journal's coverage extends to reproductive health knowledge and service utilization among vulnerable populations, barriers and facilitators faced by community health workers in delivering maternal and child health care, and attitudes toward marginalized groups including LGBTIQ individuals within healthcare education. Additional work explores how organizational structures can be designed to align with ethical values in public health models and examines quality improvement strategies in private healthcare facilities. These investigations matter because ethical considerations fundamentally shape health equity, access to care, cultural appropriateness of interventions, and the trustworthiness of health systems, particularly in resource-limited settings and among underserved populations where ethical tensions are often most acute.
