Antimicrobial Peptides (AMPs) are small, naturally occurring proteins, typically fewer than about fifty amino acids long, that form part of the innate immune defenses of humans, animals, plants, and microorganisms. They act against a broad range of microbes, including bacteria, fungi, and some viruses, often by disrupting microbial cell membranes or interfering with essential internal processes.
