Submission Requirements
Manuscript Format
Submit your manuscript in Microsoft Word (.docx) or LaTeX format. Structure should include: Title page, Abstract (250 words maximum), Keywords (5-8 terms), Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, Acknowledgments, References, and Figure Legends.
Figures and Tables
Provide high-resolution figures (minimum 300 DPI) in TIFF, EPS, or high-quality JPEG format. Each figure should be submitted as a separate file. Tables should be editable (Word or Excel format) and included at the end of the manuscript file. Ensure all molecular pathway diagrams, Western blots, immunohistochemistry images, and microscopy data meet quality standards.
Supplementary Materials
Supplementary data files, extended methods, additional figures, raw data files, and video files are encouraged. These materials undergo peer review alongside the main manuscript and are published online with the article.
Data Availability
For studies involving genomic data, transcriptomics, proteomics, or other large-scale molecular datasets, deposit raw data in appropriate public repositories (GEO, ArrayExpress, ProteomeXchange, etc.) and provide accession numbers in your manuscript.
Ethics and Compliance
Research involving human subjects requires IRB approval and informed consent. Animal studies must comply with ARRIVE guidelines and have IACUC approval. Include ethics approval numbers and consent statements in your Methods section.
What Happens After Submission?
Immediate Confirmation
You'll receive an automated confirmation email with your manuscript tracking number within minutes of submission. This number allows you to monitor your manuscript's progress through the review process.
Editor Evaluation
The assigned editor evaluates whether your manuscript fits within our scope of colorectal cancer pathophysiology, assesses scientific quality, and determines if it advances mechanistic understanding of the disease. Manuscripts outside our scope or lacking sufficient scientific rigor may be desk-rejected within 3-5 days.
Reviewer Selection
For manuscripts proceeding to peer review, the editor selects 2-3 reviewers with expertise in your specific research area—whether that's tumor microenvironment, signaling pathways, biomarker discovery, or disease models. We prioritize reviewers who can provide constructive, mechanistic feedback.
Review Process
Reviewers evaluate your manuscript for scientific rigor, novelty of mechanistic insights, appropriateness of methods, validity of conclusions, and significance to the colorectal cancer research community. They provide detailed comments and recommendations.
Editorial Decision
Based on reviewer feedback, the editor makes one of four decisions: Accept (rare for initial submission), Minor Revisions (typically achievable within 2-4 weeks), Major Revisions (requiring substantial additional work or experiments), or Reject (if fundamental flaws exist or work doesn't advance the field sufficiently).
Revision Opportunity
If revisions are requested, you'll receive detailed reviewer comments and editor guidance. You have the opportunity to address concerns, perform additional experiments if needed, and resubmit with a point-by-point response explaining how you've addressed each comment.
