Overview
Tumor resection is the surgical removal of abnormal tissue growths, ranging from benign masses to malignant cancers, performed to eliminate disease, relieve symptoms, or obtain tissue for diagnosis. Research published in this journal addresses tumor resection across diverse anatomical sites and clinical contexts, including rare neoplasms of the central nervous system such as thoracic intramedullary melanocytoma and glioblastoma, benign tumors like pleomorphic adenoma of the nasal septum and inverting papilloma of the lacrimal sac, and malignancies including adenosquamous cell carcinoma of the stomach and non-specific steroid cell tumors of the ovary. The published work examines surgical management challenges in specific populations, such as lipomatous neoplasms in pediatric patients and multiple concurrent neoplasms in elderly individuals. Additional studies explore complications associated with tumor resection, including bacterial meningitis following pituitary macroadenoma surgery, and the diagnostic complexity of distinguishing primary tumors from metastatic disease, as seen in cases of lung cancer with isolated adrenal metastases. This body of work contributes to understanding the technical, diagnostic, and clinical decision-making aspects of tumor resection across multiple organ systems and patient populations.
