Overview

Advanced gastrointestinal cancer therapeutics is a form of targeted therapy which is used to treat cancers of the gastrointestinal tract, such as stomach, colon, or rectal cancer. Targeted therapies are designed to target specific aspects of cancer cells and manipulate them in order to reduce the spread of the cancer and improve the patient's prognosis. This type of therapy has grown in popularity in recent years due to its ability to produce effective results in a shorter time period with fewer symptoms of side-effects. The most common advanced treatments for gastrointestinal cancers include monoclonal antibodies (mAb), tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), and drugs that target specific genes or pathways. These treatments are often used in combination with traditional cancer therapies such as chemotherapy and radiation in order to maximize their effectiveness. Advanced gastrointestinal cancer therapeutics offer an alternative treatment option to patients who may not be suitable for other forms of therapy, and overall, can provide a better chance of survival and improved quality of life.
